Calling All Students of Bury Saint Edmunds!
We are very excited to announce for you a Spoken Word/Poetry/Rap competition on the subject of race and racism.
Prizes are on offer for the winner of each category across schools/colleges in Bury Saint Edmunds and will have their entry displayed on this website and our social media platforms.
You can make a video entry by recording yourself performing your piece, uploading it to YouTube (or any video sharing platform) and sending us the link via the form below. Audio entries can be made in much the same way via SoundCloud or similar.
Alternatively, if you’d like to submit a text entry, you can do this directly via the competition entry form below.
Here are a few excellent spoken word pieces that we hope will inspire you to get writing!
- The competition is open to all students 11 – 18yrs in three categories: 11-13yrs, 14-16yrs, 17-19yrs
- The competition opens 2nd November 2020 and the deadline for entries is 27th November 2020
- Judging the competition will be board members, Stephen Higgins (Spoken Word artist and Writer) and Tamika Green (Writer).
We are hopeful that this competition will engage students, enrich their education, open dialogues of conversations about race and raise awareness of the issues Black and Minority Ethnic citizens of the UK experience.
